My Introduction

It looks like I’m finally doing it, I’m finally starting a blog. I had been fighting it for years, but the more I realize my creative writing is taking a backseat to life, the more I realize I need a blog. Or possibly write an award-winning movie and NY Times-selling book.

Anyway, I’m Sharryn, an almost 31-year-old wife and mom who is also a journalist. I’m currently researching my family history and wanted to share my experience with those who are searching (and could give me some pointers), those who aren’t but have thought about it, and even those who could not care less what I’m doing, but love me enough to still want to read my blog :D . I’ll sprinkle my research with stories about the rest of my family, including my recently-divorced parents, my brother and his wife and 2.5 sons (still waiting for #3 to make his appearance!) and my own husband and 2-year-old son, P, along with my in-laws, whom I love dearly (I know, very rare to hear these days).

So far, my research has taken me back to the Civil War era, where I have found two sets of great-great-great grandparents. Unfortunately, finding information about their families has been difficult as I now have to start digging through plantation and slave owner records since they were all born in to slavery. I also have a white great grandmother on my mom’s side. So yeah, we’re just a melting pot.

Please bear with me as I navigate my way through this whole process, and feel free to drop me a comment or a joke or a good quote. I also love cheesecake, so if you want to send me a slice, I won’t turn it down.

Enjoy and welcome to my blog!
